In the foothills, Conifer Historical Society is offering a cemetery tour on Saturday, October 17th at the Kemp Cemetery at noon. The graves of Conifer’s founding pioneers will be visited and their stories shared. The tour is two hours, and is $10 for non members and $8 for members. Molly Brown House steps up Halloween with Victorian Horrors XXII. For ages 12 and over, Gothic tales of horror are told by volunteers and staff as you journey through all four floors of the house, in the dim Victorian lighting and encroaching dark of the Fall evenings. Several dates are available for this event – Friday and Saturday October 16th and 17th, and Friday and Saturday October 23rd and 24th, and the event starts every 15 minutes from 6 pm – 8:45 pm. The Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden is hosting the Trick or Treat Train on October 31st. A historic locomotive will be pulling vintage passenger cars filled with costumed engineers and conductors, with stops throughout the museum to fill up on Halloween goodies. This is great for the whole family – come in costume for a unique trick or treating experience! The train leaves every 30 minutes between 10 am and 4 pm. Littleton Museum is offering a Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 10th from 10 am to 3 pm. Pick a pumpkin, go on a hayride and all kinds of other interesting things within the livinghistory aspect of the museum. There is no fee to get into the museum, but there may be fees to participate in various events.
Also at the Littleton Museum on October 23rd and 24th, “Walking with the Dead: Funeral Traditions from the Victorian Era”. Tours start at 6 pm; the last tour of the evening leaves at 8:30 pm, and last 35-45 minutes each. This is for children 10+ and children must be accompanied by adults. Tickets are $3 each, and must be purchased in advance at the Littleton Museum.
